How You Became a Fan

I had been flipping through a program from a show at the IVORYTON PLAYHOUSE and saw her name listed as (much to my dismay now) Katherine Hepburn. This was also the summer she was in the hospital for that infection.

How You Became a Fan

As a young teenager, someone once told me "they don't make them like Katharine Hepburn any more". I loved old black & white movies but hadn't heard the name before. A few years later, whilst flicking through TV channels on a rainy afternoon, I came across the BUB scene in which Baby is following Cary Grant as KH drives alongside in her car. It grabbed my attention, I watched the rest of the movie and started looking out for more KH roles. 30 years later, I've now seen all but 6 of her films, 3 of her TV films and read almost every book & article ever written about/by her. Unfortunately, I never saw any of her live theatre performances, but thanks to this site now have the opportunity to listen to 2 of her radio ones.

I think its great the we can honor her memory her work and her great accomplishments. Unfortunatly I was never able to meet her but certainly maybe in another time I will be able to. I adore her and respect everything she did. She not only attained many movements for filmmaking but she also allowed the world to see what woman can do if they put their mind to it. The world is at a great loss without her but heaven is filled with such a great angel. Now I look forward to going there someday. Thank you for this web site. I am sure Kate would appreciate it. Thank you so much for your excellent work on this site! I used to lament over the scarcity of informative sites about Kate, which hardly made sense considering what a fascinating person she was. You definitely have THE best Katharine Hepburn site available today!

Thanks for sendind me an e-mail informing me of your site. I know it's still under construction but, what I've seen, I've really liked. Especially the news section, including Cate Blanchett's portrayal, which is really exciting. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for this lovely new Katharine Hepburn site - can't wait to see how it develops. Maybe you'll find time to introduce yourself too, and tell us all how & when you became a fan. Just one suggestion - how about reversing the order of the guest book entries, so we see the most recent at the top of the page?

Great website - fact filled but uncluttered. Like the ability to "click" on the title of a film or play and see another page with specifics on the film or play plus fine photos and a critic's comments. Never can have too many places to go for info about and photos of Kate. Thanks and best wishes, Sherry
